Keeping in Touch

I will be heading to India November 14th to volunteer at a children's home and school for five and a half months. I will be getting back to Alaska May 1st.

Here is the website for the place I will be: http://www.shishyasociety.org and to see a little bit more what it's about you can go here too: http://blog.shishyasociety.org/about/. Please check it out!

I contemplated on having a blog or not. I thought about just posting notes on Facebook every once in a while but I wanted people who didn't have facebook to see what I was doing as well. I then was just going to send emails out too but I think having a blog will be better. I'll keep it updated and might post some pictures too. Please feel free to visit it frequently and leave comments. Let other people that know me please know about it! It would be nice to hear from people while I am over there.

For those of you that text I will have an iTouch over there and the volunteer housing has wireless. With the wireless I can send and receive texts for free. Please email or facebook for the number. If you have a texting package for the states already it won't be long distance or extra charges since it's to a U.S number. You cannot call this number. I will have Skype too so please ask for my ID too if you want it. If you have gmail we can instant message and video chat on there as well. My AT&T number is going to be disconnected at the end of October so I will be getting a new number all together after I get back in May. As you can see though, there are lots of different ways to keep in touch with me after that!

If you feel inspired to write snail mail (which I love!) please contact me for that address too.

India is 13.5 hours ahead Alaska time.

I am very excited, nervous and anxious about this next chapter of my life! I want to be able to share my experiences with the people I know and care about back home.

Please keep in touch! I would love to have any contact information you have!

  2. I agree! So glad you decided to blog. I will miss our daily e-mails but it will be good to have a narrative of what you do over there. Wish I could come visit! P.S. I love snail mail, what is the mailing address?
